Gina Lindsey’s Blog

Dear Blogger Friends,

Well, here I am, back in Spokane, WA after my time in Montana. Tomorrow I start the classes I’m taking to train for my new job. I’m looking forward to it all. My cat wandered off and it seems I’ve become mommy to a puppy. I’ve named her Dixie. She’s a lab/German Shepherd cross, about 2 months old. I didn’t think I wanted a dog, but she’s been such a good companion. I’ll include a picture next time I write. By the way, all you dog lovers out there — how do you train a  dog to go outside? Any tips would be much appreciated!

I’ve been learning a lot about God through these last few weeks. The church I’ve been going to is a great help. My question: what about baptism?  I’ve always thought baptism was really weird, like some kind of strange rite someone goes through to become a member of a cult. But John baptized in the wilderness of Judea, the Bible says, and even Jesus was baptized. Anyone out there want to help me out with this?

I’ve seen Chance a time or two, nothing romantic, I can assure you. He is busy with his new life and taking classes, like I am. We keep up with Facebook and email and I’m going to take my horse, Mystie,  out to his ranch some time next week. I’m a LITTLE nervous about being there with him. Not that he would do anything bad, but just wondering what my role is with him now. We’re both wondering if we’ll be called on to solve another mystery. Well, we’ll see.

Thanks for reading my post. Answer me, please! I am trying so hard to be a Christian, but I can’t seem to get it all together yet. Some days I get really discouraged. Any kind of helpful word would be much appreciated!

Until next time,

I’m just Gina Lindsey, a cop in Spokane who’s trying to do the right thing.

    Hi Gina,
About baptism. I’m glad you asked. There’s no real mystery here. The purpose of baptism is to show your identity in Christ as his child, His follower. It’s an open confession of your faith in Him. When baptised, the pastor will say, “Buried with Christ in baptism,” as he dunks you, and as your raised out of the water, he says, “And raised to new life in Christ.” Water baptism is a symbol of Christ death and resurrection. If you haven’t been baptised, I’d encourage you to do it. Baptism doesn’t save us, but like I said, it’s an outward confession of our faith in Him. It sounds like you’re a new Christian. Linda Molinari gave me your name and site address. I’m also a writer and a speaker. If you’re needing help in your walk with the Lord, follow my blog: daniemariesmusings.blogspot.com

    Dear Danie,
Thanks for your reply! I am really just a fictional character in my creator’s book, Deadlocked: A Gina Lindsey Mystery, written by Virginia Ann Work and published in Dec. 2011. If you’d like to read the book, you can order it from Amazon or from myself. (see How to Order Page) I (Virginia Ann Work) to bring interest and discussion about Gina’s new life in Christ, which is why I had her ask the question about baptism. I’m very glad you took the time to answer. If you’ve been to my website (www.virginiaawork.com) then I you know I’ve written fiction novels that you might enjoy reading. I will check out your website.

Thanks again for writing. Your answers were RIGHT ON! God Bless.

Please check out my website! What do you write? I have written two historical novels set in France and Palestine during the days of the Crusaders, Sirocco Wind from the East and Mistral Wind from the North. This is a series– I’m working on the third book in the series right now. The mystery book will be a series, too, featuring Gina Lindsey as the detective. Then I’ve written a mystery series for teen girls, featuring Jodi Fischer and her friend Lexie Marshal. I wrote these about 20 years ago and Moody Press published them. Then they went out of print and just recently I rewrote the first two books and got them published.

Let me hear from you. I am interested to know where you’re at in your writing and what you write.
    Thanks!
